Miami Spice 2019: Coming Up in SeptemberSeptember 9, 2019
While Labor Day weekend may mark the unofficial end of Summer, there’s still plenty to look forward to in September. Miami Spice, which kicked off on August 1, continues until September 30, with a series of local restaurants offering prix fixe menus starting at $23 for brunch or dinner for $39. Apart from Miami Spice, the inimitable Lizzo will be hitting The Fillmore Miami Beach and local indie band KIDS will be performing at the Capital One Cafe on Lincoln Road.
Miami Spice / Brunch
September 1 – September 30
Located in the South of Fifth neighborhood, Stubborn Seed was opened by Top Chef winner Chef Jeremy Ford. Their Miami Spice brunch menu features plenty of plates that are meant to be shared, starting with their appetizers. First course options include ricotta accompanied by charred sourdough and apple cinnamon jam, or buttermilk biscuits with onion jam.
The main entree options feature their buttermilk pancakes and the roasted cauliflower, topped with fried onions and a sunny side up egg. Wrap brunch off with their signature snickerdoodle cookie which features a completely gooey center of milky hazelnut creaminess.
Other brunch options not on the Miami spice menu worth considering include the Chai Waffles, extensive list of craft cocktails, and the bottomless mimosas.
Miami Spice / Dinner
September 1 – September 30
Chef Rablat and Sandy Sanchez, known for their French bistro La Fresa Francesa in Hialeah, also own the Normandy Isle eatery Silverlake Bistro. The Bistro is focused on classic American fare, drawing inspiration from Southern California.
The Miami Spice dinner menu is available on Wednesday night through Sunday, with a variety of options to choose from. Their appetizers feature a gnocchi mac and cheese, veal meatball and filone toast, arugula salad, or charcuterie croquettes served with aoli.
The namesake burger is the Silverlake Burger with two beef patties, cheddar cheese, strips of bacon, porcini mayo, and steak sauce – plus a side of fries. Check out the seafood options, including their mussel dish, served with grilled filone toast or the branzino served with swiss chard. Vegetarians can enjoy the roasted cauliflower, paired with lentils and a fried egg. The restaurant can also accommodate for keto or gluten free diets.
Make sure to save some room for dessert, such as the cheesecake parfait, chocolate pot de creme, butterscotch pot de creme, or hot fudge sundae.
Lizzo at The Fillmore
Wednesday, September 11
“Truth Hurts” singer Lizzo will be bringing her show down to The Fillmore on Wednesday, September 11. The ‘Cuz I Love You’ tour kicked off earlier this year with Lizzo taking her high-energy, overt confidence, and messages of self-love around the US. Her stop in Miami Beach is the first since the release of her ‘Cuz I Love You’ album and marks the second leg of her successful tour.
Ari Lennox, an R&B artist based out of the Washington DC area, will be opening the show up. Her album “Shea Butter Baby” dropped in May and features a soulful R&B sound, including the singles “I Been” and “Shea Butter Baby” featuring J.Cole.
The Jackie Gleason Theatre will be hosting the show, starting at 8 pm. While tickets are currently sold out through the main box office, secondary ticket sites such as StubHub still have availability.
